Facebook Pages – Sometimes called Fan Pages or Business Pages
Small business owners/managers and hobbyists want to get out the news about their work. Some, who already have a Facebook account (the one you open when you first set up Facebook), start creating status updates about their business on that personal account. But there’s a better option and it’s not that hard to set up. It’s called a Facebook Page or just a Page.
When you create a website, you have control over its content and appearance including the layout. You design it for what you have in mind. It becomes an expression you or your business’s personal identity and the hub of your online activity. Facebook space is different. It’s not yours and it’s strictly limited to what Facebook provides for your layout. That’s why your Facebook looks like everybody elses. It’s part of the reason that, as a business, you need both a website and a Facebook account for a minimum digital presence.
To give users at least one option to help the business part of their account stand out from personal pages, Facebook has a second layout – the Facebook Page. It has some important advantages over your personal account alone. You create a “hover card” that shows your Page’s cover photo, profile photo, and Page type when someone hovers over your Page’s name anywhere in Facebook. You’ll have access to apps that you can use to extend Facebook’s capabilities, and you’ll also have some (limited but useful) metrics to learn something about activity on your Page.

Facebook Lists
Are you missing posts that are important to you? Do you sometimes have to scroll and scroll to get to them because of the fire hose of posts coming at you? Facebook does the best it can, using its EdgeRank algorithm to show you what it thinks you want to see, but it doesn’t always give you what you really want.
Lists to the rescue!
When you create a list or add friends to a Facebook built-in Smart list, you can click it and see just the posts from people in that list and be sure you haven’t missed any posts from these important friends. You take control!
If you’re not using Facebook lists yet, try this – From your Home view click “Family” under Friends in the left hand Navigation column. In the upper right click Manage List, then Edit List from the drop-down. Click the “On This List” button and choose Friends. Now, click each friend that is one of your family members. When done, click Finish.
Now, when you click Family in the left hand Navigation column, you see only posts from the people on that list. When you click “Home” at the top, it will go back to showing you the normal Facebook post sequence.
You can add people to other lists in the same way, and you can add a new list by clicking “More” next to Friends in the left hand Navigation column, and then click the “+ Create List” button at the top. Name the new list and click Create. Your new list appears in the Navigation column and you can add members to it just like we did with the Family list.

3 Simple PC Shortcuts

Three Simple Keyboard Shortcuts – Save time, lose the pain…
1) Ever have things go suddenly bad when you’re typing some entry on your PC? You may not even know why it happened. Either everything’s gone or it’s misplaced, and it looks like a lot of work needs to be redone. And it all happened in an instant!
Ctrl+z to the rescue! For most of the things we do (unfortunately, not all of them), you can hold down the Ctrl key while pressing the z key on your keyboard to undo the latest operation. Not only that, if you do another Ctrl+z, you’ll likely take it another step back.
Usually after one or two or a few of these life saving shortcuts, things will be back to normal.
[But don’t forget to do an occasional Save. Hey, another shortcut! Of course, Ctrl+s.]
2) Ever think you could save some time and typing if you could just use some of what’s already there?
Take a shortcut! Highlight the text you want to copy by holding down your mouse button while you ‘paint’ over it. When it’s highlighted, do a Ctrl+c for copy (or a Ctrl+x for a cut). Nothing seems to happen, but what you highlighted is now copied into your clipboard and it’s ready for pasting. Put your cursor wherever you want to put the stuff you copied, and to a Ctrl+v and it will be pasted there.
3) Ever want to get things going without all the mousing around? Lots of programs and applications use a few simple shortcuts.
Ctrl+o instead of File and then Open to open a file
Ctrl+s instead of File and then Save
Ctrl+b to bold whatever is highlighted
Ctrl+u to underline whatever is highlighted
Go ahead and play with them if you haven’t already used them.
BONUS: To quickly open your folders and files window (Windows Explorer), hold down the Flag key (between your left Ctrl key and Alt key) and click the letter e.
